We gathered photos and job titles from over 200 D/deaf adults around the world and turned them into a giant interactive exhibition to raise job aspirations among D/deaf children, their parents, carers and teachers. Visitors are encouraged to take a magnetic token and match it to a job in this fun, interactive installation.
‘My daughter loved seeing all the jobs and seeing other people with hearing aids. It made her feel like she wasn’t so different after all. I felt proud and connected. I love ToyLIkeMe, their work is amazing and helps so many children feel included.’ – Parent
‘I felt proud to be a teacher of the deaf. I brought a group of students to make sure they know there are deaf people all over the world and they are not alone in Lowestoft. Love the positive welcome from the ToyLikeMe team.’ – Teacher
‘Made me realise I can do the same as everyone else. It was fun and they were ordinary people like me.’ – Young deaf person
See it Be it was created by ToyLikeMe and illustrated by children’s author and illustrator, Kate Read. The project was generously funded by Ellerdale Trust and Birkdale Trust.
